After going through my collection of Nick videos (most of them being Rugrats), I started thinking- what if ChalkZone was popular enough for Nickelodeon to start releasing videos and DVDs in 2003? CZ only got released on two compilation tapes, one Christmas compilation DVD (which was after they cancelled the show), and on a few VideoNow discs (so yeah, if you really wanted to own more episodes, you had to buy a freaking VideoNow player). So what if the show really caught on and tapes/DVDs started to be released? Here were some ideas I had.
Each tape contains five episodes each and features the music videos in between episodes (like back when Nick would put Doug music videos, shorts from The Ren and Stimpy Show, and various Nick shorts like Inside-Out Boy, The Off-Beats, and Safety Queen in between episodes on their tapes in the early to mid 1990s). The pattern would be that two videos would be released and then a DVD would follow shortly after, containing episodes of both (Nick started doing this with SpongeBob Squarepants until mid-2006 when they stopped making videos). The DVDs would include the music videos from the tapes (as well as any songs being sung in the episodes like "Rapunzel" or "Amazin' River") as bonus features with an optional sing-along track. After those are released, a compilation of the Snap three-minute episodes would be released with eight episodes on each video (a DVD will be released the same day)
Some would have a specific theme to them, some videos won't. Nickelodeon was flip-flopping between the two in the 2000s. Rugrats started off without a specific theme in 1993, gained them for 1994-2002, and then eventually dropped them again (i.e., the "Mysteries" VHS in 2003 only has one mystery-themed episode). Doug, The Ren and Stimpy Show, Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold!, CatDog, and The Fairly OddParents (not counting the specials with bonus episodes on the DVDs) all had themed tapes. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, SpongeBob Squarepants (save for holiday tapes), and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius didn't have themes.
I...don't know what they would name the videos. Nickelodeon doesn't use "volume" titles, but I'll put them in until I can think of a good title. I already have some rough ideas. I will update this list.
