I remember when this movie came out. I really wanted to see it. I typically prefer movies that have animal protagonists and this movie delivered. It's nice and colorful and looks awesome even by today's standards.
If there's one thing that bugs me, though, it's how the hyenas are treated. While I can get that, at the time, people really did think that hyenas mostly scavenged, but it did seem rather unfair that they were banished from the pridelands and treated like second class citizens. In fact, the only reason they follow Scar is because of the promise of food. I can't help but think that the whole issue with the hyenas could have been avoided if Mufasa had at least sent them to a more decent land where they could hunt their own food. Why the elephant graveyard?
Oh well, it's still a pretty good movie, despite its flaws.
