I usually don't like RPG games and I am not a fan of Final Fantasy, but I love Kingdom Hearts, especially the second game. It seems crazy to make a game crossing Disney and Final Fantasy, but somehow, it works. The story is well detailed and thought out, though it can get pretty complicated at times. But it's a game I recommend to anyone. It takes a long time to beat, but it really pulls you in. Yeah there are changes to the story to account for Sora and the others, but it still works and flows well, in my opinion.
